I realised that whilst I had a number of apps on my Satio, one of the things I had yet to do was buy them on the phone directly from Sony Ericsson’s PlayNow service. Which is quite an oversight, because app stores are kind of a big deal nowadays… (more…)

Nokia’s 5th Biggest Blunder Of 2009.

Biggles I’ve been reading Symbian Guru’s Top xxx of 2009 lists and this one stood out most of all: 2009 Top 5 Nokia Blunders. Obviously this site is dedicated to the Satio, but it’s a Symbian phone, so the Symbian ecosystem as a whole matters.
I agree with the sentiments of the first four – a half finished flagship, absolutely woeful online strategy and not properly marketing your best product. The 5th blunder was an open one. Having pondered over this for the past day, I’m split. I came up with two main blunders, both of which have far wider reaching consequences than buggy firmware on the N97. So here’s both. (more…)

December 21st, 2009 Biggles So far I have linked to other reviews of the Satio. But now that I have one and have been using it for a couple of months, what do I think?
The Camera
This is the Satio’s biggest selling point, being a 12.1 MP camera with a xenon flash for photography and LED flash for video. (more…)

Excellent deals on the Satio in the UK
October 29th, 2009 Biggles Just a brief post for those of you who are interested in getting a Satio in the UK but don’t fancy dropping more than £500 on a SIM free version direct from Sony Ericsson. A Carphonewarehouse subsidiary called Mobiles.co.uk are doing several great deals on each network with a discount on the direct prices. Better yet, the phones are unbranded!
Symbian Guru Finishes Satio Review

Symbian Guru starts Satio review
September 15th, 2009 Biggles Rita El Khoury, aka Dotsisx, over at Symbian Guru has posted part one of her five part review on the Satio.
Rita gives some very good and detailed coverage, but I don’t want to spoil it for you other than to say the Satio made a good first impression, especially given the pre-release software on the phone.

Satio preview on GSM Arena
June 6th, 2009 Biggles The guys over at GSM Arena have gotten their hands on a pre-release Satio and have a six page preview. Read all about it here.
In the meantime, be sure to check out some of these press photos. It gives us a few clues as to the colours the Satio will be available in, with black, silver and red being definite so far.
Sony Ericsson Satio announced!
February 15th, 2009 Biggles Today at the Mobile World Congress 2009 exhibition in Barcelona, Sony Ericsson announced the Satio, a Symbian powered 3.5″ touchscreen monster smartphone. It will pack a 12 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS and 3G connectivity. Looking at a 2H release in 2009. More information when available!
